Urge your member of congress to help revitalize Arizona's mining industry and support Sen. Murkowski's "Critical Mineral Act of 2011."

Arizona

Arizona's mining industry supports over 50,000 high-paying jobs statewide making the mining industry the largest overall employer in the state.

Arizona is home to an abundance of critical and strategic minerals capable of meeting our nation's manufacturing and national security needs, including vast deposits of copper and uranium, a mineral critical to nuclear energy generation which currently provides 20 percent of America's electricity. Yet, the lack of a clear national minerals policy means that the United States is forced to import approximately 90 percent of the uranium it uses, leaving our nation largely dependent on foreign resources like Russia.

Given Arizona's mineral wealth, Arizonans need to promote policies that will revitalize our nation's production of strategic and critical minerals and bring economic growth to the state.

Take Action and urge your representative to support Rep. Mark Amodei of Nevada’s "National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act of 2012 (H.R. 4402)," a bill that will revitalize domestic production of strategic and critical minerals by reforming an outdated and incredibly inefficient permitting process on American mining projects. This bill will drive new investments in American minerals and prevent the U.S. from becoming further dependent on foreign sources for these vital minerals.

Subject: Fix America's Mining Permitting Problem - Support H.R. 4402
Dear Representative:

I am writing to urge you to support H.R. 4402, the "The National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act of 2012," sponsored by Rep. Mark Amodei of Nevada and designed to revitalize the nation's critical minerals supply chain. This legislation would drive investment in a critical American industry that is currently held back by massive delays to production because of an overly burdensome regulatory and permitting process.

I urge you to co-sponsor the "The National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act of 2012" and in doing so, help revitalize domestic production of minerals and prevent the U.S. from becoming further dependent on foreign sources of these critical resources.

Sincerely,
